Silverstone – The Greatest British Formula 1 Grand Prix
When it comes to the Formula 1 season, for us there is only one race that takes centre stage, and that’s Silverstone.
Mates round, Sticky Chicken Noodles in the oven, we’ll be glued to our screens this weekend as Formula 1 comes home.
It has been an incredibly entertaining season so far, and the championship has not fallen short of a few dramas, with many shocked to have seen Sebastian Vettel on the grid last week. Vettel escaped any post-race reprimand for deliberately driving into Lewis Hamilton at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, facing just a 10 second penalty during the race.
Hamilton could still have won, however he was forced to pit with a loose headrest. Lewis’s bad luck continued with a five-place grid penalty at the Austrian Grand Prix for an unscheduled gearbox change. The drop now means that the title contender can’t equal Michael Schumacher’s all-time pole position record of 68 at his home British Grand Prix this Sunday.
Despite Vettel’s actions, the championship leader is performing well, picking up 49 points in the last three races. Since the beginning of the season, Vettel has been able to exert pressure on the Mercedes team, proving the Ferrari is a match for race pace.
With a lot on the line, Sunday’s race is sure to be a thrilling event to see if Hamilton can close in on Vettel’s 20 point lead.
